It's the Rhyme... All of the Time!

It's the Rhyme
Ida J. Lewenstein
It's the Rhyme

Welcome to My Site.  My name is Ida J. Lewenstein, and I will admit it, I am a rhyming addict. Doesn't matter if I am in the elevator, at dinner with friends, or at the grocery store. It is what I do and I can't stop.  Maybe, someday my doctor will prescribe me a cure, but until then, I am going to keep on rhyming!!!! and have lots of fun along the way.

So thank you friends, family and co-workers for being kind and patient while I deal with my rhyming ailment.

Who Are My Books Written For???

Prior to reading to librarians, book store buyers, or teachers, I am often asked what is the ideal grade level?, what is the reading index? or who is your target audience?  My first answer is the books are for those who like who like to have fun!!!!!!!!!!  My next answer is kids, parents, grandparents, teachers and story tellers.  When we read to kids, the parents almost always jump in and rhyme away.  So whether you are reading to children, or children are reading to you, my rhymes are meant to be fun, whimsical and tell stories.....Enjoy!

A special note to teachers and parents

As a former elementary school and adult teacher for English As a Second Language, I know very well the challenges of teaching students to read.....particularly when they are at home and away from school.

Some of the books I have written.   Please see more on the Titles page

The Poems I Write
By Ida J. Lewenstein
Let me tell you
A little bit about me
I've Been Writing Poems
Since the age of three

Come to think of it
I might have been four
I really don't remember
But then, who is keeping score

The poems I write
Are written in rhyme
I write this way
Most of the time

My poems tell stories
And, as you will see and
Are often rooted
In fantasy

I write for children
Young and old
They seem to like
How my stories unfold

But rhyming they say, is now “passé”
No longer the status quo
Yet, who can forget the riveting rhymes

Of Edgar Allen Poe!

Or ask the child jumping rope
How do you keep in time?

It’s a no brainer, says the child
It’s the rhyme…always the rhyme.

As for me…
I’m going to keep on rhyming
That’s the way I am
Just think…
If no one ever wrote in rhyme
There’d be no Mary
Or her little lamb.

Thank You:

I would like to take a minute and thank my family, friends, artists and editors for supporting my work.  And a special shout out to the Peninsula Chapter of the California's Writers Club, who have encouraged me to keep on rhyming!!!!!!!
